Grain banks often fail. It is hard work to make them succeed. However, they can sometimes help communities to have a year-round supply of food.
This tool gives guidance on setting up and managing a successful grain bank. It covers the different types of grain bank that exist, key questions and considerations when planning, establishing, stocking or maintaining one, as well as common pitfalls to avoid.
Many of the principles can also be applied to community-run seed banks.
