The region in Nepal where Kiddi lives has been severely hit by the climate crisis, causing floods and landslides. This has devastated families like Kiddi's. Crops have been washed away and essential services have been destroyed – including the water supply in Kiddi's village, which has made life more unbearable. Many have had to travel to India to find work and live apart from their families.

Never enough to keep hunger at bay

Life for Kiddi was a constant battle to provide her family with enough food and nutrition. She grew only rice and millet, which did not withstand the extremes of weather and was never enough to keep hunger at bay.

With hunger tightening its grip on her family, Kiddi decided to join Tearfund's Transforming Communities training in her community. This gave her a whole new start and, as she learnt to diversify her kitchen garden to include a variety of vegetables, she was excited to pass on what she'd learnt.

She also joined a self-help group, where the members save together. 'I felt so happy,' Kiddi says. 'I have saved up. I use the money on buying oil, soap... and other needed things.'

However, as needs rise sharply around the world, many other families like Kiddi's, Tek's and countless others are needing urgent support. Please give what you can this Harvest and help transformation grow.
