As a nation, Malawi is faced with the great challenge of raising approximately 2 million orphans, most of them the result of AIDS. Tearfund’s partner, Ministry of Hope is committed to making a difference in the lives of these children.
Ministry of Hope feed several thousand orphans a day, six days a week. For many of these children this is their only source of food. They also sponsor a mobile medical clinic in communities that would otherwise have limited access to any form of medical care and provide temporary care for babies born with AIDS, or who have been abandoned or are in other life-threatening situations.
Alongside this incredible work, Ministry of Hope support widows, the disabled, and the destitute, by ministering to their physical and spiritual needs.
Business management, adult literacy and food production, are just some of the practical activities they run in their widows programme.
