Life felt bleak and without hope for Betty. But then a training course, eggs and her vision changed all that...
Betty is a farmer and lives in Uganda. Life for Betty isn’t easy – as a single mother who is living with HIV, facing the struggles of drought and hunger, she has found it hard to earn a living.
Betty and some of the other women in her village used to feel trapped at home. The perception was that they had nothing to offer.
But thanks to training run by Tearfund’s partner organisation and Betty’s church, the women have begun to build a new life and a future. Through the training, Betty and her friends have learnt how to rear quails and to sell the eggs for a profit.
Betty now feels encouraged and empowered. ‘God has given me the strength to start new income-generating activities. Now I can save money, I have the vision to build my own home,’ says Betty.
‘Glory to God, I thank God... God can do anything, anything, anything. God can do anything at any time.’
