Join Christians around the world – from the UK to Australia, New Zealand to Zambia – for a Week of Prayer and Action. Together, we’ll be praying for and responding to the world’s rubbish problem, with brand-new resources to help you and your church get involved.

Use our free prayer guide to pray in your church, or follow along with daily prayers about the plastic crisis and the people most impacted by it. Get started by watching our prayer video below.

Pray along with Tearfund staff and partners around the world as we lift up the plastics treaty and those impacted by plastic pollution.

You can take part in the Week of Prayer and Action by:

Why now is the time to respond

We’re facing mountains of rubbish. People living in poverty are hardest hit, and are less likely to have access to good waste management. Many are forced to live and work among piles of waste, which is making people sick, releasing toxic fumes, flooding communities and causing up to a million deaths each year.

In November, more than 150 governments will meet in Nairobi, Kenya, for the third round of talks to develop the first-ever international agreement on plastic pollution. Throughout the Week of Prayer and Action we’ll be praying for a positive outcome and calling on leaders not to throw away this opportunity!
