In Bangladesh, continuous rain since 4 July has caused widespread flash flooding and triggered landslides across the eastern, southeastern and northeastern parts of the country.
Clarence Sutharshan Sukunadas heads up Tearfund’s work in the country and he has been to the affected region to assess the situation.
He confirms that more than 1.1 million people have been impacted by this disaster, including in Cox’s Bazar which is the location of the world’s largest refugee camp.
The flooding and landslides have damaged homes and left whole communities cut off. Many families are facing struggles to access food and clean water, and livelihoods have been destroyed.
