How Tearfund is responding
Tearfund’s faith-based partners in Venezuela are responding to the practical and emotional needs in areas most affected by the earthquakes, including La Guaira, Caracas, and surrounding regions.
We’ve seen the powerful response of local churches when disaster strikes. Responding to people in crisis is where Jesus’ love leads.
Through a coordinated effort of church networks, Tearfund’s local partners are offering:
- emergency food and shelter to the countless people who have lost their homes and livelihoods
- medical care to the injured
- trauma support to survivors
A message from the Baptist Convention of Venezuela
Isaac Delgado, Communications and Promotion Director for the Baptist Convention of Venezuela, shared the urgency of the situation with us:
‘We are looking at a critical situation with collapsed residential buildings, severe structural damage, and thousands of families currently sleeping in the street due to the intense aftershocks.
Our teams have successfully made their way into La Guaira, and we're actively on the ground doing intensive field work, directly assisting the victims and deploying emergency aid where it is needed most.
As we continue our fieldwork through the debris and the panic, we urgently request your prayers, your help.’
