Our work in Ivory Coast
Tearfund’s work in Ivory Coast dates back to the 1980s and has expanded since ongoing conflicts have resulted in people facing extreme poverty and urgent need.
Our work focuses on:
- Working with communities affected by extreme poverty.
- Supporting women and children who have experienced sexual and gender-based violence.
- Equipping farmers affected by deforestation and climate change.
- Providing access to clean water and adequate sanitation, particularly for people living in rural areas.
Our local partners are addressing the needs of some of the most vulnerable communities through a process known as church and community transformation (CCT) – working with local churches to empower the people in their communities to lift themselves out of poverty. As well as providing practical support, our partners are equipping churches to act and speak out on issues such as conflict, corruption and lack of access to water and sanitation.
