What is the Climate Emergency Toolkit?

The Climate Emergency Toolkit is a step-by-step guide to help individuals and churches respond to the climate crisis with powerful actions and prayer.

We’re currently updating the toolkit to give you the most up-to-date and relevant resources.

The toolkit will include:

  • Bible-based resources for your church and small groups.
  • Practical ways to care for creation.
  • Tools to help you campaign, and much more.

Why should Christians be involved in climate action?

God has entrusted us with a beautiful world – but today, creation is suffering. The climate crisis is pushing more people into poverty and placing everyone at risk. It’s not a distant threat; it’s happening now.

As Christians, we're called to love our neighbours, act justly, and care for God's creation. The climate crisis is a justice issue, and the church has a vital role to play.

That's why we've created the Climate Emergency Toolkit: a practical guide to help you respond with hope, courage and action.

Together, as the body of Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit, we can tackle the causes and impacts of the climate crisis – protecting lives, communities, and creation.

‘What kicked me into action was recognising that I have a role, we have a role, the church has a role to play in this and we can do something about it.’

Prayer for the climate

Lord God, you made the world and declared it was ‘very good’. And yet, we have not treated the earth and our fellow humans with the care and respect they deserve. We are sorry and ask for your forgiveness. Give us the courage to keep raising our voices about the climate emergency, which affects people living in poverty the worst. And may your Spirit of peace be in the hearts of all people so that conflicts end in peace and relationships are restored.

Amen.
