Jeannine’s* story
Jeannine (pictured above) suffered horrendous injuries when she was shot in both legs during the recent violence in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Jeannine’s husband was away on business at the time and since the attack has refused to answer her calls. Life became increasingly difficult for the abandoned family.
Unable to support her children, Jeannine was forced to return to her parents’ home and had to ask her neighbours for basic necessities. That’s when Jeannine met Tearfund’s team, and supporters like you were able to help. Identified as a vulnerable household, Jeannine was given $108. Not only did this provide for her family's immediate needs, but it also allowed Jeannine to start a small business with the help of her two daughters who travel to the market to sell fruits like oranges and bananas.
