The ongoing conflict in Gaza and Israel has brought immense suffering to the region. It’s a complex situation that has left huge numbers of people in desperate need of humanitarian aid. This week, you can use these prayers to call out to God in intercessory prayer and ask for his peace to reign in this beleaguered land.

Sunday 29 September

The people of Gaza and Israel can’t hope to recover unless there is lasting peace. Pray for an end to the violence and for world leaders with influence in the region to make wise decisions that lead to lasting peace and security. Pray that God’s peace would fill the hearts and minds of everyone who is suffering.

Monday 30 September

Pray that humanitarian relief for Gaza would pass through borders unhindered. Ask God to protect aid workers and anyone working to provide humanitarian assistance and medical supplies to those in need. Pray for the safe distribution of food, water, sanitary items, medical supplies, fuel and electricity, and for people forced to flee their homes to return safely.

Tuesday 1 October

We pray for those who are mourning loved ones in Gaza and Israel and the wider region. Please save them from despair; for the trauma they’ve experienced not to overshadow hope that peace is possible. Amen.

Wednesday 2 October

Pray for people who have been traumatised or injured. Ask God to heal their physical and emotional wounds and bring them deep comfort. Pray for hospitals and medical workers who are struggling with limited resources and overwhelming needs. Ask God to provide all the resources and equipment they need to treat the sick and injured.

Thursday 3 October

Praise God that in the first days of the conflict, our local partners reached 3,630 people displaced from southern Lebanon with immediate aid (food boxes and other essential items such as mattresses, blankets, feminine hygiene products and nappies), delivered through a network of churches.

Friday 4 October

Kareema works with our local partner, Middle East Revive and Thrive. She’s been helping many displaced people who have come to Beirut. She says, ‘The situation is heavily affecting people psychologically. Besides the fear they felt, they are tired emotionally because they left everything. So, we try to provide them with a shoulder to cry on.’ Please pray for her wellbeing as she serves people in need.

Saturday 5 October

Dear God, we cry out to you on behalf of the people seriously affected by the conflict in Gaza and Israel. Our hearts break at the devastation and misery that we see, and we know it breaks yours too. We look to you as our Saviour and the hope of the world. Amen.
