Sunday 9 November
‘The best thing about our community is unity,’ says Izzan from Rahim Yar Khan, a city in the Punjab. ‘When we are united, we can accomplish anything.’ Pray that this unity will continue to grow and strengthen, overcoming divides and promoting mutual support, and ask that all communities live in harmony throughout Pakistan.
Monday 10 November
‘There isn’t any school in our village,’ says Amna of Mirpurkhas. ‘It is far away, making it difficult for children to reach and study.’ Pray for improved access to schools, especially in remote areas, and for resources to enable all children to receive a good education. Pray for safe travel to schools for those who need it, and for good teachers.
Tuesday 11 November
‘Now we are saving more income from the carpet weaving,’ says Amna from Khatoon, Karachi, who was given a loan from Tearfund’s partner to enhance her business. Pray for sustainable livelihoods, fair wages and opportunities for economic empowerment, especially for women.
Wednesday 12 November
Healthcare access is a pressing concern for many remote communities. ‘We do not have a hospital where we can take our children for treatment,’ says Izzan. Pray for better healthcare facilities, especially in rural areas, and for access to medical care for all, particularly vulnerable populations. Remember those struggling with illness and those who must travel great distances to see a doctor.
Thursday 13 November
‘There is a shortage of water in our village,’ says Bhalia Ram from Rahim Yar Khan. Pray for reliable access to clean water and sanitation facilities, especially in areas facing scarcity. Meanwhile, others fear great downpours. Mohammad Anwar from Mirpurkhas says, ‘During heavy rains or any disaster, we face challenges together, due to impassable roads.’ Pray for the development of good transport networks, and for infrastructure to be resistant to natural disasters.
Friday 14 November
Bhalia was trained in better farming practices by Tearfund’s partner. ‘Before that, we had no idea,’ he says. ‘We were farming, but we used to suffer many losses.’ Pray for farmers facing challenges due to weather patterns and lack of resources, for good harvests, and sustainable farming practices that protect the environment and bless the local economy.
Saturday 15 November
Ratni's home, in Tando Allahyar, was badly damaged in the 2022 Pakistan floods. ‘We were supported by Tearfund after floods in 2022,’ she explains. ‘We got blankets, food packages and hygiene kits.’ Lift up people recovering from floods and other crises, and pray for resilience, support and a sustainable recovery.
