This week, pray for the people of Yemen and the transformative work of Tearfund and our local partners. Ask God to continue blessing efforts to heal deeply wounded communities, restore broken relationships, and provide life-saving support and sustainable training to those who need it most.
Sunday 7 June
Give thanks for the whole-life approach of Tearfund’s local partners in Yemen. By combining immediate food assistance with long-term development like solar energy training, they are addressing both urgent hunger and the need for lasting solutions.
Monday 8 June
Pray for the 312 men and women who participated in solar energy training. As they learn to design and maintain solar panels, they are bringing affordable electricity to their communities. Pray for the female facilitators who are shifting perceptions of women’s technical abilities and opening new income streams for their families.
Tuesday 9 June
‘It’s true that I received the food basket, but that has ended; what remains with me now are the skills I learnt from psychological support,’ says Amani. After ten years of silence, she was able to reconcile with and care for her sister-in-law. Pray that the 624 people who attended psychosocial support sessions would find lasting healing from their trauma.
Wednesday 10 June
Last year, 50 people from Yemen took part in the Tearfund-supported cash-for-work projects. This provided vital work experience and built their skills. Lord, we ask you to grant them more income opportunities, uphold their sense of worth, and help them to build resilience in their communities. Amen.
Thursday 11 June
‘I used to hit my children without understanding the problem,’ says Mahari, who felt frustrated and overlooked in her marriage. Give thanks for the community engagement training that gave her the confidence to make positive changes in her life. Pray for Yemeni families, that arguments would be replaced by understanding and that the healing of relationships would strengthen them.
Friday 12 June
Lord, we lift up the marginalised people in Yemen, who often face deep-seated exclusion. We thank you for Asma’s testimony: ‘From the first psychosocial support session, I saw the facilitators smiling at us... they didn’t silence me.’ Pray that all people in Yemen, regardless of their background, would be treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.
Saturday 13 June
We pray for local community committees. Through their cash-for-work projects like road renovations and school repairs, 50 people have gained income and learnt new skills. May these ‘communities of hope’ keep restoring Yemen’s divided communities, building resilience in people who have faced trauma. Amen.
