“Humanitarian suffering greater than ever” as Tearfund relaunches Middle East Appeal

Tearfund is relaunching its Middle East Appeal to respond to rising humanitarian needs in Gaza and Lebanon.

Safa Hijazeen, Tearfund’s Regional Director for the Middle East, said: “The humanitarian suffering in Gaza and across the Middle East is greater than ever. Tearfund’s church partners are doing their best to respond across the region, working in very difficult circumstances to provide meals for displaced people, ship vital medicines, and keep schools running.”

“Tearfund’s supporters have already been incredibly generous, and their donations have supported vital work supporting people impacted by the violence. But a year after the October 7 attacks, the need in Gaza is immense and Lebanon stands on the brink of disaster”.

Tearfund is working with local churches and partners in Gaza and around the Middle East to provide support and vital supplies to people impacted by the conflict.

  • In Gaza, Tearfund’s partner IHP is providing life-saving medicine and desperately needed supplies. The shipments of medicine support a number of clinics run by staff in Gaza, including child and maternal health clinics.
  • In Lebanon, Tearfund is working through local churches to provide shelter and assistance to people forced from their homes by the fighting.
  • In the West Bank, Tearfund’s partners are providing emergency funding to local hospitals and schools, and distributing food and essential supplies to those affected by the violence.

After a year of violence, the conflict and suffering keeps growing across the Middle East. Tearfund is asking its supporters to help with the response by donating and praying. For more information about the work of Tearfund or to donate, please visit tearfund.org/middleeast or call 020 3906 3906.
