123 million reasons to pray for refugees…

Conflict, economic hardship and natural disasters (often caused by climate change) are forcing millions of people around the world to flee from their homes. But, as they go, God journeys with them. And we can walk alongside them by partnering in prayer.

Real people who need your prayers

In many places Tearfund works – often through the local church – to support people who are refugees or have had to flee and seek safety in their own countries. By the end of June 2024, around 123 million people around the world had been forced to leave their homes, often with little more than the clothes on their backs. That’s 123 million stories of leaving behind homes, possessions, jobs and loved ones. That’s 123 million reasons to pray…

Around the world, multiple crises are unfolding and suffering has reached unimaginable levels causing the number of refugees and displaced people to increase significantly in recent years.

‘The massive numbers can seem overwhelming, but each of those statistics is a unique person, with a name and a story.’

Each person represented by the figures is loved by God. Each person deserves the opportunity to thrive.

Your prayers can make a difference

We believe in the power of prayer. And your committed prayers can bring hope and transformation to the situations faced by, and causing, refugees and displaced people to flee.

Ahead of World Refugee Day in June, join the Week of Prayer for refugees and internally displaced people. Each day from Saturday 14 to Friday 20 June, you’ll receive an engaging email following the journey that real people have taken as they flee their homes. You’ll also get up-to-date information from our global teams equipping you to read, reflect and respond in prayer.

‘This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.’
1 John 5:14

Poverty is not God’s plan. You are. Play your part by praying for refugees and displaced people around the world. Let’s pray…

Walk alongside refugees and displaced people from 14 to 20 June through glimpses into their journey.
