This week, pray for the beautiful country of Pakistan, with its mountains, valleys, lakes and deserts. Yet Pakistan is also incredibly complex: prone to climate disasters it also has longstanding problems with social, economic and political instability.
Sunday 13 September
Frequent floods, intense heatwaves and water scarcity are ruining crops, killing livestock and putting livelihoods at risk in Pakistan. Pray for protection for communities that are susceptible to events caused by the climate crisis, particularly farmers facing challenges due to weather patterns and a lack of resources.
Monday 14 September
Seeta lives in Punjab, Pakistan. Her husband Taria, who is a farmer, struggled to feed their family. Confined to her home, Seeta was unable to work to support her family. ‘I used to work alone,’ says Taria. ‘I always thought there was no opportunity for women.’ Lord, we lift up women, like Seeta, unable to earn money for their struggling families. Amen.
Tuesday 15 September
Praise God that Taria’s eyes were opened when he took part in agricultural training with Tearfund’s partner in Pakistan and discovered there were opportunities for women. ‘I now grow and sell tree plants every day,’ Seeta says. ‘I have become confident, and I’m earning an income. It has changed our family’s lives.’

Pray for Tearfund's work across Pakistan; that the organisation and its partners can meaningfully help those in need by bringing hope, relief and restoration into their lives.
Thursday 17 September
Pray for the different people, groups and organisations working for the dignity and wellbeing of those living in poverty; that their compassion, commitment and motivation never cease and that they continue to assist and serve with courage and strength.
Friday 18 September
A six-month skills training workshop led by Tearfund partners in Pakistan has led to 38 young people with new careers. ‘My family feels relieved and proud because I have gained skills and dignity,’ says Matthew. Praise God that, thanks to Matthew’s training as a mobile phone repair mechanic, his income has increased from £22 a month up to around £90. This breakthrough allows him to pay daily expenses, his wife’s medical costs and fund his younger siblings’ education.
Saturday 19 September
Join with Tearfund Pakistan in praying this prayer: ‘Almighty God, we pray for the church in Pakistan that has served the disadvantaged with dedication and love for decades. As resources diminish and as need rises, we ask you to give the church all that it requires to help those in distress. Amen.’
