Prayer changes lives. It is one of the most powerful tools we have in advancing God’s kingdom, and it underpins Tearfund’s work to empower people to lift themselves out of poverty. Yet, with the big challenges that the world is facing – for example, extreme poverty, conflict and the climate crisis – it can be hard to know how or what to pray for.
To help you and your church to continue to engage with these issues, we have created some new resources to help you set up a prayer room.
A prayer room is a space set aside in your church, home, office or another building that is dedicated to inspiring people to pray and soak in God’s presence. They can be a brilliant way for people to return to this essential part of our faith, and engage with issues that they might otherwise struggle with.
In One Voice each week in July, starting today, we’ll be sharing ideas to create your own prayer room. The four themes we will cover are: praying for the global church, praying for the climate crisis, praying for people affected by conflict, and praying for ‘forgotten’ crises that rarely make the news.
We hope that these prayer room ideas will be inspiring and helpful for you and your church family.
