Margaret Cross’s story

Tearfund had always been close to Margaret’s heart, and she chose to remember us through a gift in her will.

Tearfund had always been close to supporter Margaret’s heart and so she chose to remember us through a gift in her will.

Born in Bristol in 1944, Margaret Cross obtained a degree in religious studies and spent the majority of her adult life teaching religious studies in several schools in High Wycombe.

She had a strong Christian faith and even when she retired, she continued to play an active role in her local church.

Her nephew, Jon, described her as a gentle, kind and generous person.

He said, ‘My aunt was really fond of otters and, at her funeral, my uncle made the observation that the more otters there are in a watercourse, the better the water environment.

‘In the same way, he felt that if there were more people like my aunt in society, the better society would be - I think he was absolutely right!’
