Where is The Philippines?

The Philippines is a country made up of thousands of islands in South East Asia

Our impact

Overview

The Philippines ranks third among all of the countries with the highest risks worldwide (World Risk Report 2018), as it is exposed to frequent natural disasters such as typhoons, storm surges and volcanic eruptions. This impacts the wellbeing and livelihoods of people living across the country, pushing many people deeper into poverty.

Find out how we are responding to the devastation caused in the area by Super Typhoon Rai.

Our work in the Philippines

Tearfund first established an office in the Philippines in 2014. We work with local partner organisations to respond to disasters and emergencies, ensuring that we quickly reach those most in need. We also provide long-term support to thousands of individuals in the most disaster-prone areas.

Tearfund's extensive experience of responding to large scale international crises and disasters provides strategic value in the Philippines. We continue to promote a partnership approach in international humanitarian response work and our network of partners in the Philippines is able to respond quickly, at scale and to international humanitarian standards, across 11 locations in the country.

Please pray for the Philippines

    • Give thanks for our local partner organisations who are working with churches to see communities transformed.
    • Pray for people whose lives are frequently affected by extreme weather events, such as typhoons. Ask that they will get the support they need to recover from these disasters.
    • Pray for strengthened partnerships with local governments, to be able to respond to the needs of communities when disaster hits.
