Get involved in the Global Week of Prayer

Together with Tearfund staff, partners, and our friends at 24-7 Prayer, this September during the Global Week of Prayer you can join hundreds of thousands of Christians praying non-stop around the world to honour Jesus and pray in his name.

We want to equip you to pray for your global neighbours facing injustice and extreme poverty, so we’ve created a free resource where you’ll find information and prayer points to help guide your prayers in creative ways.

What you’ll be praying for

Each of the issues below pushes people deeper into poverty, rooted in global injustice. Whether it’s the devastation of conflict, the harsh realities of climate change, or the systemic discrimination faced by women and girls, these forces break communities apart. That’s why we’ll be praying in the name of Jesus about:

  • conflict
  • climate
  • gender inequality

Injustice is loud, but Jesus’ love is louder

After decades of decline, extreme poverty is on the rise. More than 800 million people are still living in extreme poverty worldwide.

Conflict, natural disasters and injustice are the main drivers of this, devastating communities around the world.

But that’s not the end of the story, because Jesus’ love leads us to pray for people in extreme poverty. Use the resource below to pray for and with your global neighbours.

Lift up global neighbours living in extreme poverty by using this free prayer resource.

Following Jesus from conflict to peace

Inter-ethnic group conflict made life unbearable for Kalonda from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). But thanks to Tearfund’s intervention, Kalonda’s life has transformed dramatically. Now, she’s a peace champion in her community.

‘We’re embracing a new reality of peace in our daily lives and have turned the page on everything that plunged us into the depths of hatred,’ says Kalonda.

‘Through what Tearfund has done, we’re now determined to move forward. This new chapter reflects the two communities living together in harmony, expressing lasting peace in our communities, our families and elsewhere.’

‘During the harvest we share the crops equally, without discrimination,’ says one participant in Tearfund’s Artisanes de Paix peacebuilding project in the DRC. Here, two women in the community work together gathering the harvest. Credit: Elijah Muweza/ Tearfund
