The plastics crisis is a daily reality for communities in Haiti.

In this four-part series, we explore what is causing the plastics crisis and how the church is taking action. You’llalso learn about communities in Haiti who are investing in green space and getting creative to transform plastic into bookbags.

Please note: These videos were recorded in 2020 when Tearfund worked in Haiti. While we no longer work there, we still think this series is a great example of the church taking action together that we can all be inspired by.

Part one: The problem of waste

In part one of the series we explain why multinational companies need to stop the rubbish and take responsibility for the plastic waste they're producing.

Part two: The role of the church

Churches in Haiti are putting their faith into action when it comes to creation care. This second video looks at the inspiring difference that local churches are making at tackling the plastic crisis in their communities.

Part three: Green initiatives

Communities and churches in Haiti are modelling innovation and collaboration, as we can see in this third video focused on green initiatives such as local gardens.

Part four: Plastic transformation

James and Obed started a business in Haiti to transform plastic waste into book bags. Watch the last video in our series to see how they're helping their community find a way through the plastics crisis.

Will you play your part to reduce your plastic use, pray for communities affected by the plastics crisis, and be part of the solution?
