Project Overview
- Country: Mozambique
- Focus: Child nutrition
- Local partner: Local church and community networks in Zambezia
Tackling child malnutrition together
In Mozambique, severe cyclones, flooding, and droughts destroy harvests and leave families aching with hunger. More than 1 in 3 children are stunted in their growth. Without a reliable harvest or varied diet, parents struggle to give their children enough food, let alone a nutritious diet.
Working through local church and community networks in Zambezia, your gift will:
- Help run community nutrition sessions
Parents, caregivers, and local leaders attend nutrition sessions to learn how to prepare nutrient-rich meals using locally grown crops, directly tackling stunted growth in children. - Provide climate-resilient seeds
Farming families receive seeds and training in demonstration fields to grow diverse, disease-resistant crops that survive climate shocks. - Build community savings groups
Neighbours pool savings together in community groups, giving parents access to small business loans so families can afford food and essentials during tough times.
