A better society for all

Margaret’s nephew, Jon, looks at Margaret’s legacy and how it will lead to lives being changed due to her generosity.

Margaret Cross was born in Bristol in 1944. With a degree in religious studies, Margaret spent many years teaching in schools across High Wycombe. Her Christian faith was strong and, even after she retired, Margaret continued to play an active role in her local church.

Those closest to Margaret describe her as a gentle, kind and generous person. Jon, Margaret’s nephew, says, ‘My aunt was really fond of otters and, at her funeral, my uncle made the observation that the more otters there are in a watercourse, the better the water environment. In the same way, he felt that if there were more people like my aunt in society, the better society would be – I think he was absolutely right!’

Margaret chose to leave a gift in her will to Tearfund; a gift that will help those around the world in the greatest need. It is thanks to the generosity of supporters, just like Margaret, that we can continue in our determination to see an end to extreme poverty.

Lives around the world will be changed because of Margaret’s generosity.

Find out more about how you can put your faith in action and leave a gift in your will to Tearfund. Like Margaret, you can leave a gift that will transform lives for generations to come.
